Desktop or Cloud?
Both give you the same kitchen, the same console and the same agents. The difference is where the kitchen runs.
| Desktop | Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | On your computer | On a server we run for you |
| Install | The Eggie app | Nothing, you create it in the browser |
| Open your projects | Only on your computer | From any device |
| Show it to someone | Public link for a few hours | Every project has its own https address |
| When it’s off | When your computer sleeps or Eggie is closed | It runs all the time |
| Connect your agent | Directly, no keys | Over SSH with a key you download once |
| Price | Free | Free during beta |
Pick Desktop if
- you’re trying Eggie for the first time;
- you work from one computer and don’t need others to open your projects often.
Pick Cloud if
- you want to open your projects from your phone or another laptop;
- you want an app that stays online, not a link that runs out;
- your computer is short on disk space or memory.
You can have both: the Eggie app on your computer and one or more cloud kitchens.
Next: install on Windows or Mac, or create a cloud kitchen.
